Kids and Family Vacation

Puerto Vallarta is one of the most beautiful and well-known tourist destinations in all of Mexico.  It is also the favorite site of various species such as majestic whales, dolphins, and sea lions. Among all of the animals that visit Puerto Vallarta, some of the most interesting are the giant sea turtles that return year after year to the golden beaches to lay their eggs. In recognition of these beautiful animals and in order to preserve and protect the species, the government and private businesses have created programs to collect the turtle eggs and guard them during their incubation process until the baby turtles can be released and return to the sea. 

Species such as the Gulf Turtle (lepidochelys olivácea) and the Laúd Turtle (dermochelys coriácea), are some of the many that visit the tranquil beaches of the Pacific Coast.

It all starts at the beginning of June. Camps are established on the key beaches of the Bay of Banderas, the eggs that are found are deposited in turtle corrals and observed by various organizations, and the general public often helps.  Here the eggs will stay for their 45- 50 day incubation period. Then, during the final days of August, the baby turtles are released. The release coincides with the summer season, in which vacationers are able to participate in this unique and special activity.

Just south of Puerto Vallarta are many small and hidden beaches. They are a far cry from the long wide beaches found in and above the hotel zone, and are only accessible by water taxi.

Yelapa is one of these beautiful places. To get to Yelapa you can take a water taxi, known locally as a Lancha, from the pier in the Romantic Zone. Or, you can do as we did, and take the beautiful drive down to Boca de Tomatlan and catch a Lancha from there…

Your children will enjoy a fun-filled vacation with the Velas Vallarta Kid’s Club, which provides structured and fun activities for kids from 4 to 12 years of age. Watch the little ones participate in arts and crafts, treasure hunts, tennis clinics, play on the jungle gym and more! There is plent to keep your chlidren active and enjoying themselves while you spend some time taking an afternoon nap.

This is a tour made by Vallarta Adventures. It is a boat trip that takes you to the southern beaches of the Bay of Banderas in particular the beach Las Caletas. At 9:30 am we disembark from the Marina Terminal on a 1 hour and 15 minute journey to this private beach. Along the way we saw alot of dolphins who seemed to be playing along side the craft in their successful attempt to garner our attention. the spectacle was a delight for all.

The newest mall to open in Puerto Vallarta is the Vallarta Gallerias. If you are looking for really nice clothes, a great variety of shoes and more, this is the place for you! Shopping, eating, gaming, place for the kids… this mall has a little something for everyone!

Mexican horsemen/women parade through town wearing beautifully decorated jackets, pants and sombreros on finely brushed horses decked with their best equipment. Festivities continue throughout the day and evening at various charro rings, including bullfights, calf roping, food and dancing.

I recently embarked on a pirate journey with the Marigalante in Puerto Vallarta and let me tell you, it was great. From the personal waiter service to the show to the contests to the fun on the beach… it was a day to remember.

Walking along the Malecón can be a relaxing and fun-filled experience for the whole family……….
