September 15 is Independence Day – YAY

Here is your chance to celebrate Independence Day for the second time this year but this time, it will be Mexican style. The festivities begin in the main plaza of each city in Mexico with the traditional !Viva México! cry given at 11 o’clock on the night of September 15th, in the case of Puerto Vallarta the Mayor will lead the local celebrations from the balcony at City Hall, followed with an impressive fireworks display. Come downtown to join the fun ?? there will be food stands, music, folkloric dance performances and mariachis everywhere. The festivities continue on the 16th with a parade that marches through the center of town. If you are interested in fun through the night, you have the option of hitting a pretty much any club on the Malecon. The music and drinks will be flowing into the wee hours of the morning.

I have to make a comment on this post because i had to share my Independance day experience. I did have the opportunity to go to the Malecon to see the fireworks and festivities and boy was it impressive. the number of people who gather and the enthusiams and excitement of the crowd was infectious. Two really popular bands played and people were singing and dancing in the streets. You couldnt imagine something more Mexicoan! I am glad I took the trip to see it… definitely something everyone should try to take part in if they are in Mexico for this celebration.
