The international group The Leading Hotels of the World recently announced the launch of its exclusive program Leading Golf, for travelers who enjoy practicing this sport on world-class courses while staying in luxury hotels.

Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit and Casa Velas have been recognized and now are part of a select group of just three hotels certified in Mexico and 45 resorts worldwide.

To be a Leading Golf hotel, three elements are needed: Special events organized by the hotel, personalized golf tours and special “Stay and Play” packages for golfers that can be enjoyed around the world with The Leading Hotels of the World guarantee.

The call is out for the Aguas Abiertas Riviera Nayarit 2011 Nado Seguro 5-3 K, or Open Waters Riviera Nayarit Safe Swim 5-3 K, a competition set to take place on the 9th of April in front of the La Cruz Marina. The race covers 1.25 kilometers and 300 swimmers are expected to participate.

Para los amantes de la natación, abren convocatoria para el evento deportivo Aguas Abiertas Riviera Nayarit 2011 Nado Seguro 5-3 K, una competencia de gran fondo a realizarse el 9 de abril, en un circuito de 1.25 kilómetros.

The Bay of Banderas, home to Puerto Vallarta and the Marieta Islands, is an exceptional setting for observing humpback whales during the winter and part of the spring. Year after year the whales arrive on the Mexican Coast to rest after their long trip from Alaska to the equator, mate and give birth to their young.

During the LPGA Futures Tour, professional female golfers and contenders for a place in the best league in the world will step onto the greens of the El Tigre Golf Course in Nuevo Vallarta. The event will take place from the 4th to the 10th of April, with Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit as an official sponsor.

We received so many incredible photos and histories that the Communications Committee had an extremely tough time choosing among all of the great entries. After much deliberation and debate, the 14 finalists have now been chosen! They were decided upon based on the pair’s history as a couple and the creativity shown in their photo. Riviera Nayarit sigue dando buenas noticias de qué hablar y no es para menos. En esta ocasión, sumada a los grandes eventos realizados en este paradisiaco lugar, tendrá lugar la única fecha en tierras mexicanas del Futures Tour 2011, avalado por la LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association), con el torneo Riviera Nayarit Classic.

En pasada conferencia de prensa en la Ciudad de México, autoridades de Riviera Nayarit y de la promotora deportiva Ochoa Sports Management dieron a conocer los pormenores de este encuentro internacional; se informó también que esperan la asistencia de 111 profesionales, representantes de 34 países, aspirantes a la liga mayor del golf femenil.

Según el comité organizador, los golfistas arribarán a nuestro país desde el 4 de abril, para participar 6 y 7 en el evento Pro-Am, abierto al público en general y en el que los aficionados a este elegante deporte podrán jugar al lado de alguna participante profesional y hacerse acreedores a premios extraordinarios, entre ellos, estancias en el resort Todo Incluido de Lujo Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit.

Oficialmente, el Riviera Nayarit Classic dará inicio el viernes 8 de abril y la ronda final se jugará el domingo 10. Y se anunció que quien desee presenciar el extraordinario torneo podrá asistir, pues la entrada será libre.

Jugadoras mexicanas como la jalisciense Sophia Sheridan, actualmente en el sitio 28 del pasado Futures Tour, así como Lili Álvarez, la mejor representante azteca en el torneo de 2010, compartieron en rueda de prensa con los medios y los patrocinadores, sus impresiones sobre esta gala del golf.

En ocasión de este importante acontecimiento, Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit se vestirá de manteles largos con un coctel de bienvenida para las participantes en la playa frente al hotel. Como parte del patrocinio, el elegante resort Todo Incluido de Lujo obsequiará un premio de 7 noches de estancia, para dos personas, a los golfistas que logren el “hole in one” en el hoyo 15.

De igual forma, Velas Resorts repartirá premios para los tres primeros lugares diarios en el Pro-Am, por aproximación (O´ yes): primer lugar, 3 noches en cortesía para dos personas en Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit; segundo lugar, 3 noches en cortesía para dos personas en Casa Velas; tercer lugar, 3 noches en cortesía para dos personas en Velas Vallarta. En total, Velas Resort repartirá premios por más de 15 mil dólares.

El Riviera Nayarit Classic, además de ofrecer una bolsa de 125 mil dólares para las futuras jugadoras LPGA, destinará lo recaudado a causas de beneficencia encabezadas por la Fundación Lorena Ochoa, la mejor golfista mexicana en la historia, quien por cierto estará presente en El Tigre, para apoyar a sus compañeras.
