From October 14th-30th, the Pan-American games will welcome 42 countries´ best athletes to Mexico for exciting competitions in 36 disciplines, each hoping to take home a gold medal; Puerto Vallarta will host the competitions in beach volleyball, sailing, open-water swimming and triathlon.

The Pan-American games are well underway and the air is buzzing with good sportsmanship in the capital city of Jalisco and the sub-host city of Puerto Vallarta. The Organizing Committee of the Pan-American Games in Guadalajara (COPAG) recently reported that over half a million tickets have been sold for matches in various disciplines to be held from October 14th-30th, affirming the people of Jalisco’s high expectations for this sporting event.

42 countries are competing for medals in 36 disciplines, 15 of which will be qualifying rounds for the London Olympic Games in 2012, guaranteeing the quality of the competitions and the presence of many important figures in swimming, basketball and baseball.

Operations and Sports Director of the COPAG Ivar Sisniega, revealed that the official number of athletes enrolled in the Pan-American Games, from which Mexico hopes to win 24 gold medals, will be 5,996 athletes. Mexico is the largest delegation, with 644 athletes, followed by the United States with 620, Brazil with 519, Canada with 493, Cuba with 442 and Venezuela with 387.

“After seeing the registers and how many athletes will be attending, the conclusion is that the Pan-American Games are stronger than ever”, stated the Mexican official.

The inauguration of the Pan-American games took place in the Omnilife Stadium in Guadalajara on October 14th, with a spectacular celebration that promises to be unforgettable celebration and it was a spectacular, unforgettable celebration. Ya inició la Fiesta de América, se respira un ambiente de deportivismo en la ciudad capital de Jalisco y en la subsede Puerto Vallarta. El Comité Organizador de los Juegos Panamericanos Guadalajara 2011 (COPAG) reportó recientemente que más de medio millón de boletos se han vendido para las distintas disciplinas que se desarrollarán del 14 al 30 de octubre, lo que demuestra las grandes expectativas de los jaliscienses por esta justa deportiva.

Son 42 los países que competirán por las medallas dentro de 36 disciplinas, 15 de las cuales servirán como pruebas clasificatorias para los Juegos Olímpicos de Londres 2012, lo que garantizará la calidad de las competencias y la presencia de muchas de las figuras en natación, basquetbol y béisbol.

Por su parte, el director de Operaciones y Deportes del COPAG, Ivar Sisniega, reveló que el número oficial de inscritos para los Panamericanos, en los que México espera cosechar 24 medallas de oro, será de 5 mil 996 atletas. México es la delegación más grande, con 644 deportistas. Le siguen Estados Unidos (620), Brasil (519), Canadá (493), Cuba (442) y Venezuela (387).

“Después de tener los registros y ver qué atletas vienen, la conclusión es que los Juegos Panamericanos están más fuertes que nunca”, afirmó el funcionario mexicano.

La inauguración se llevó a cabo en el Estadio Omnilife, en Guadalajara, el pasado 14 de octubre, con una una fiesta que fue inolvidable. Acróbatas, danzas multicolores y hasta aviones de la Fuerza Aérea Mexicana surcaron el cielo con un show nunca visto en México, digno de cualquier ceremonia de apertura de Juegos Olímpicos, según dijeron miembros de la prensa nacional e internacional.

Reconocidos atletas llevaron la antorcha panamericana hasta el estadio, para que Paola Espinosa, la clavadista con más medallas en competencias internacionales de la historia de México, encendiera el pebetero que albergará la flama de esta justa deportiva de América.

La Ciudad de Puerto Vallarta será subsede con las disciplinas de volibol playero, vela, nado en aguas abiertas y triatlón. También se realizarán competencias en otras partes del Estado como Lagos de Moreno, Ciudad Guzmán y Tapalpa.

Luego de una investigación seria y amplia para coincidir en la selección de lugares, con un gran despliegue de esfuerzos y recursos, la institución financiera Bancomer ha publicado la Lista Gourmand de los 50 Mejores Restaurantes 2011 en México, donde dos restaurantes de Velas Resorts obtuvieron destacadas posiciones: Cocina de Autor, de Grand Velas Riviera Maya, en octavo sitio y Frida, del mismo resort, en el escalón 42.

Esta lista refleja el consenso de un equipo experto de “gourmands”, quienes visitaron cada restaurante un mínimo de 6 veces, durante un periodo de un año, practicando un ejercicio ajeno a intereses particulares o comerciales. Los organizadores declararon que era necesario “llevar a cabo esta encomienda para que la gente tuviera la oportunidad de consultar un documento fidedigno producido en México”. Cabe destacar que nuestros dos restaurantes premiados son los únicos de la lista que están dentro de un resort con el concepto todo incluido.

On the occasion of the recent inspection to validate once again the certificate of Clean Beaches in Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit, staff participated in cleaning crews for several days. When the government inspector arrived to the hotel, everything was set for accreditation.
