Desde que la Secretaría de Turismo (SECTUR) notificara el pasado jueves 28 de julio la excelente noticia que Puerto Vallarta y Riviera Nayarit serían sedes del Tianguis Turístico en 2012, autoridades e iniciativa privada de estos dos destinos turísticos del Pacífico mexicano han iniciado los preparativos.

Un comité revisor integrado por 11 representantes empresariales y 10 funcionarios federales de Turismo votó en favor de la propuesta presentada por Jalisco y Nayarit de entre 18 proyectos, cuatro meses después de haberse decretado la itinerancia del Tianguis Turístico que se realizó en Acapulco durante 36 años.

Ante esta información de gran valor para la industria del turismo, el corporativo hotelero Velas Resorts manifestó su beneplácito a través de los directivos de las tres propiedades con las que cuenta en ambos destinos: Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit; Velas Vallarta y Casa Velas.

Por su parte, el gobernador de Nayarit, Ney González Sánchez, se dijo sumamente satisfecho por la elección de la SECTUR.

En el caso de Puerto Vallarta se ha comenzado con el mejoramiento para las vías de acceso al moderno Centro Internacional de Convenciones, lugar donde se llevará a cabo este magno evento, que reúne a hoteleros, restauranteros, mayoristas, autoridades de todos los órdenes del Gobierno, agencias de viajes, aerolíneas y demás prestadores de servicios turísticos nacionales e internacionales.

Se aplicarán una inversión de 30 millones de pesos; de los cuales 15 millones serán por parte del Municipio y los otros 15 por el Gobierno del Estado de Jalisco, así lo dio a conocer el Presidente Municipal de Puerto Vallarta, Salvador González Reséndiz, en pasada conferencia de prensa junto a autoridades de Jalisco y Nayarit.

Sobre la designación de estas sedes, el Alcalde vallartense destacó que esto es fruto de la alianza de los sectores sociales y económicos.

Un punto importante para la obtención del Tianguis fue el papel que jugaron los gobiernos estatales de Jalisco y Nayarit, quienes presentaron la propuesta con el respaldo de varios organismos privados y prestadores de servicios turísticos.

Cabe destacar que la Secretaría de Turismo y el Comité Especial nombraron también a Cancún, Quintana Roo, como sede del Tianguis Turístico para 2014, otro destino premium de México donde se encuentra Grand Velas Riviera Maya, perteneciente a Velas Resorts.

Since the Secretary of Tourism (SECTUR) officially delivered the news that Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit would be the hosts of the Tianguis Turistico, or Tourist Fair in 2012, the authorities and private organizations in these tourist destinations in the Mexican Pacific have begun preparations.

A review committee made up of 11 business representatives and 10 federal tourism officials voted in favor of 18 projects presented by the states of Jalisco and Nayarit, four months after it was decided that the Tianguis Turistico that was held in Acapulco for 36 years would be moving.

Faced with this greatly valuable information for the tourism industry, the hotel corporation Velas Resorts conveyed its blessing through the directors of its three properties located in both destinations: Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit, Velas Vallarta and Casa Velas.

The governor of Nayarit, Ney González Sánchez also declared himself to be extremely satisfied with the choice of the SECTUR.

Puerto Vallarta has begun to prepare by improving the access routes to the modern International Convention Center, where the grand event will unite hoteliers, restaurateurs, travel wholesalers, authorities from all areas of Government, travel agencies, airlines and other national and international providers of tourist services.

An investment of 30 million pesos will be directed towards the project, of which 15 million will come from the municipality and the other 15 million from the Governor of the State of Jalisco. This information was announced by the President of the Municipality of Puerto Vallarta, Salvador González Reséndiz during a press conference with the authorities of Jalisco and Nayarit.

With regard to the designation of the hosts, the Mayor of Vallarta also mentioned that the new designation of hosts is due to the hard work of an alliance between social and economic sectors. An important role in the movement of the Tianguis was played by the state governments of Jalisco and Nayarit, who presented the proposal with the backing of various private organizations and tourism service providers.

The Secretary of Tourism and the Special Committee also named Cancun, Quintana Roo, as the host of the Tianguis Turistico for 2014, another premium destination in Mexico and home of Grand Velas Riviera Maya, member of Velas Resorts.

November 13th is the official start date for the 2nd Half Marathon Riviera Nayarit, the only marathon in the region endorsed by the Federacion Mexicana de Atletismo (Mexican Athletic Federation), the International Association of Athletic Federations and the International Association of Marathons and Long-Distance Races.

This year, in addition to the 22 kilometers of the Half Marathon, a simultaneous 10 kilometer race will take place; both will cover beautiful natural scenery, golf courses, a marina, ocean views and 10 kilometers of sailable canals. A festive environment that combines celebration and sports awaits the runners.

The race is registered in the bulletin put out by the Federacion Mexicana and on their website. This year they expect to receive 800 participants, exceeding the amount from last year!

Without a doubt, a great way to have fun and enjoy the marvelous diversity of marine species that inhabit Puerto Vallarta is by participating in one of the activities that allows you to get close to them.

A favorite among tourists of all ages is the Sea Lion encounter. These funny mustached aquatic mammals known for their intelligence, playfulness and peculiar sounds, are relatives of seals. Similar to their seal relatives, they have external ears, long flexible necks, elastic limbs and tail fins that can be used to walk on land. They differ from seals because they have thin, short, coarse hair instead of smooth thick hair.
